Two Platoons Go Into Effect in the Morning
[April 14, 1919 - Passaic, New Jersey] The two-platoon system of working in the fire department begins
in this city tomorrow morning.
This reduces the working day of firemen from twenty-four hours
to twelve hours a day. The thirty-six men recently added to the
fire department are geting their first tates of a fireman's
life today. They went on duty at 8 o'clck this morning to learn
the different parts of the engine and the equipment used in
fighting fires.
