Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is your site free?
  2. Can you help find vital records?
  3. Why is {insert name} county have no listings?
  4. Why do you have broken links in your databases?
  5. May I add a link to my own site?
  6. Will you publish my article?

1. Is your site free?

Yes. We're suprised how often people ask us this. The site is open to the general public 365 days a year without any charges. We are able to pay our monthly expenses by working with affiliates and advertisers. We try to keep this to a minimum as much as possible.

2. Can you help find vital records?

No. We are not professional researchers, nor do we have the time to handle personal requests. All of the information we are able to gather is made available on our sites, again for free.

3. Why is {insert name} county not listed?

We don't know. Many people complain our databases are incomplete because a particular county is not listed. Please understand that we have never claimed to have information about every vital record available. New listings are added every month, so check back often.

4. Why do you have broken links in your databases?

We pay a monthly fee to keep our web sites up and running, and we pay careful attention not to change URL's for different pages on our sites. Unfortunately, other people are not so diligent. There are many sites that offer free web hosting, which is wonderful. All too often, however, people either abandon their sites, or move them to another free server. We try our best to check all of the links we have to other sites, but regretably we cannot keep up.

5. May I add a link to my own site?

Yes. If you have a genealogy web site hosting vital records, you may add links to each listing using our online form. There is no charge for this service, although we would appreciate it if you would put a link back to our site on yours.

6. Will you publish my article?

Yes. If you have written a genealogy article about a research topic, we would be glad to help you share that with the thousands of people who visit our site. We also permit links in your article back to your web pages, so submitting articles is also a great way to promote your own site.
